Google’s current instructions for finding and installing TV apps are available in Google TV Help. App availability can differ by country and television model.

Check the television platform

Android TV, Google TV, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Fire TV and Roku are different platforms. A television described as a “Smart TV” is not automatically compatible with an Android application.

Install the player

  1. Open the Apps tab or Google Play on the television.
  2. Search for the exact player name and compare the publisher with its official website.
  3. Review the supported device list, recent update date and requested permissions.
  4. Select Install, open the player and choose the login format supplied by your authorized provider.
  5. Enter details using the remote or a secure companion keyboard. Never publish a photo containing the credentials.

If setup does not complete

  • Confirm date, time and network settings on the television.
  • Check that the server address includes the required https:// or other exact scheme supplied to you.
  • Force-close and reopen the app after saving a new playlist.
  • If EPG data is empty, confirm that the provider supplied an EPG URL and allow the first refresh to complete.
  • Use the original store page for updates; do not replace a signed store app with an unknown APK.
