A practical verification checklist

  1. Find the developer-controlled website or public source-code repository.
  2. Follow its link to Google Play, Apple’s App Store, Microsoft Store or the applicable TV store.
  3. Compare the publisher name, privacy-policy domain, support address and version history.
  4. On desktop, confirm the installer publisher or code signature where available.
  5. Review requested permissions and remove the application if they are unrelated or unexplained.
HTTPS is not proof of authenticity. It only encrypts the connection to that domain. A clone or malicious website can also use HTTPS.

Warning signs

  • A download is available only through a shortened link, chat attachment or unrelated file host.
  • The website asks you to disable antivirus or device protections.
  • The application requests contacts, SMS, accessibility control or device-admin access without a clear feature reason.
  • The listing promises that the player itself contains premium media.
  • Multiple sites claim to be the “only official” source but do not link to a consistent publisher identity.

Protect account details

Do not paste playlist URLs or passwords into public scanners, screenshots, reviews or forum posts. If an unverified application received the credentials, change them through the issuing service and remove the app.
